What have you learned from UKP?

This question is aimed at the service providers.

There are plenty of negative comments from certain forums/people against UKP. We know that.

But, ignoring the harshness and blunt male-talk on UKP for a moment, is there anything positive that you have learned there that helped you on your business?

Did you change anything (profile, website, advertising, etc.) based on good tips you picked up on UKP?

Was the no holds barred talk from punters talking to other punters revealing enough to make you improve your trade?

I'm guessing, from a business perspective UKP is a great source of intelligence gathering on your customers' satisfaction/desires/likes/dislikes... is it not?

I took a lot from UKP in the early first years as I could find out what punters really want rather than what I thought they wanted. Things I thought were all important turned out to be things punters didn't really care about. I changed my profile drastically so it made it very clear what was and wasn't on offer. I put up a tab explaining what at discretion meant to me and when and why it would be used and made sure I was always organised so even if a punter was early I was ready. I probably got more from UKP than I ever did from the forum for prossies as it was more honest with no holds barred. I guess I was lucky as am used to locker room talk so I didn't get upset or angry.

Loads. UKP is full of information for girls and gives a honest frank insight into what real punters are expecting.

Before I joined there I never really gave much thought to things that could go wrong from the other side so to speak. I never knew about things like bait and switch, fake profiles etc. I didn't really take into account that some punters could be nervous either. I have picked up loads of things about mens sexual health and can advise clients on things like viagra and where to get them.

From a business side I have learnt what punters look for in a profile. Mainly honest, recent pictures, such as not hiding things like stretch marks with cushions, Only advertising the services you are definitely willing to offer and I have nothing on mine at discretion as that seems to be a major bug bear for a lot of clients

Thank you ladies. It's great to know that UKP is actually useful not only to punters (who it's aimed at) but also to service providers. We get enough flak as it is for being blunt and honest when we discuss our hobby so it's good to know that we are not that bad after all.

Dani has influenced me a lot, I've learned to be clearer about what I do and don't do. The result is that I find I end up with a much higher proportion of clients who are looking for the type of service I do offer.

Good insights from you two - cheers. I reckon it takes a certain type to weather the potential minefield that UKP can appear to be for an outsider. Someone who's committed to understanding the market, or industry, from another perspective. Prepared to take it on in a professional capacity.
One of the things we're most focussed on over there is the quality of service. And, as you've witnessed... the good SPs are most certainly championed. Just as the time wasters, etc; get short shrift.
How people approach UKP is just as much down to their self-awareness. If they're confident about what they do/ want, they can glean a huge amount of valuable intel. And feed that in to their business.

I think this new site is more likely to help SP's than UKP does.
Some gentle hints and direct interaction from / with punters is more likely to be taken on board by the lasses than some of the overly harsh criticism that is sometimes dished out to them on UKP.
I've even heard tell of girls feeling so bad about being slated for reasons they have no direct control over ( e.g. their facial features ) that they have ceased to enjoy the job the way they once did.
The feeling that they are under scrutiny every single time they see a new client ( is he going to give me a negative on AW / UKP ? ) puts extra pressure on the girls, which will eventually take its toll on them.
Regrettably, this could even lead to them quitting the business entirely, which is a shame, and could be seen as a negative aspect of the effect UKP can have.
I believe this new more interactive site, were the lasses are welcome and can let us all know their feelings about such things without fear of being quickly banned for touting, is very much a step in the right direction.

I'm sure UKP and its no-holds-barred honesty won't be going away.

Yes, punters do need a place where they can mention the disappointing aspects of a punt, some of those will be aspects of the looks of SPs...girls need to understand that what they are offering is based almost entirely on their looks and services, so they need to realise that these will be discussed frankly on UKP...really if there are girls are that sensitive, they probably should refrain from reading it.

I personally think the two sites offer different services UKP rightly so is for punters whereas this site will be for all. Let's hope it's a success :drinks:

I think this is exactly the reason Admin set up UKE. I believe that the intention is that the sites should be VERY different from each other, and all well and good for that.
I never dared to post on UKP after having seen the mauling that new posters on there sometimes got from established members :(.
Quite different on UKE where I can allow my natural fluffiness to show without fear of being banned and where the girls are welcome too :yahoo:

"No holds barred honesty"
You've hit the nail on the head there, UKP is a site by blokes for blokes. If someone says something to you that you don't like or gives you some banter then you have a go back at them or else you take it and learn from it. Blokes don't sulk or cry or give someone the silent treatment, they deal with it.
I think that this environment can be an alien world to women.

Maybe true for UKP, but I hope UKE stays friendlier and more informative ( in both directions ) and without the personal vendetta's and back-biting  that sometimes infect UKP.

I've never clashed once with fellow punter on UKP, that's because we're all looking for the same thing, good punts and good information about them. Fluffiness gets in the way of that, because a fluffy can never say what needs to be said, he always has to dress it up and obscure it.

On the other hand, I was always getting frustrated and clashing with the strident WGs and their band of White Knights and fluffies on Pnet and finally got banned from there. The source of my frustration is that I found that site useless as a place where you could talk honestly about what you needed to talk about, because the agenda of the WGs there was to stifle any negative discussion and the moderating stance was always to favour those who were paying for the ads. You would get WGs getting all shouty and personally abusive, they would get a suspension and be back a week later doing the same again because they paid £10 a month to the site.

Now we have a proper site for honest reviews in UKP and that will be staying. I can now be more relaxed about this kind of place and enjoy it, just as a place for chat and flirting and touting and fluffiness...all is right with the world...I'm having a fluffy moment!! :)
