WGs who don't have dedicated websites

How many WGs don't have a website, but have thought of getting one?

If don't want one at all, why? Is it because AdultWork profile is good enough?

I made a free one just to test the waters and linked it on a few directories but enquiries were few and far between and mostly from time wasters/delusional people.

Because I work for an agency as well as indie, I don't really need to spend much on advertising as the agency does it for me. But if I was to go fully indie and my aw work dried up a bit, I would try again with my own website.

I have a free one, which is basically a carbon copy of AW. I have had quite a few clients from it and probably would benefit from getting a proper one done.

The main reason I haven't is basically I have enough work (for me) from AW, the free site and UKP without having to pay for additional advertising. Another reason is I am not very technical and found setting up the free one a nightmare to do, meta tags, links and all that are another language to me. Just like the other day when you replied to my question about wiki you may of well replied in Chinese :D

Well I have one but Ill put in an answer anyway. I used to have a separate phone number for my adultwork and my website/directory listings . Some days my aw phone would be busy and the webby one quiet, some days though it was the opposite and my aw would be quiet but my other phone busy. Its worth having so that if aw goes down you will still have the exposure, its gone down several times already of late and its not a basket anyone should have all their eggs in. Mine costs me £8 a month, aw costs more than that per day. Plus all it takes is an aw rule change again and half of us could have our profiles removed...again. Always have back up

I have a free website since 4 years ago, not tied to aw and with a separate phone number so I know which bookings come from where. With my website I advertise on Vivastreet, backpage and other escorting sites which require mostly a link back. I will never rely just on aw as is well known that it went down for days in the past. I also have twitter for my non aw account which is actually my main one, not aw.

I have websites purely due to AW going down the first time. I had it but didn't really update it or try to get it anywhere on google until AW went down and I realised how silly it was to only rely on one place. Now I get as much work from my website as I do from AW. I have found however that my website tends to bring in the older client. Aw is fantastic for work but if you wont have a website and AW goes down for say a week then people will be panicking again

You do see some quite elaborate, and expensive looking ladies-of-the-night websites occasionally, but more often than not they'll have no google ranking, no worthwhile traffic, I wonder if they ever actually bring in a booking. Free AW profile gives them instant targeted traffic.

You might think AW is free. It costs me about 200£+ with featuring and stuff.

adultwork is not free, its one of the most expensive advertising mediums for us
I bet you're all very grateful to Admin for providing this one for free...and the potential to tap into the vast readership of UKP which is second only to AW in terms of traffic on UK paid sex sites.

Some ladies think it's illegal to advertise.
MANY/MOST website hosts don't allow adult content.
Many ladies see AW as the ultimate advertising platform and don't see a life outside that.
It takes time and effort to build a website.
Many people aren't tech minded and think web sites are all about writing code etc.

And then if ladies feel they are getting enough biz from AW, why would they want a website?

I'm wondering how important Available Today is? I suppose it is a filter in the searches. If the wg has logged in that day I would contact her without even thinking about checking Available Today.

It is easy to spend £6 a day in Costa too ;)
Sorry. Autocorrect:)
I don't use it often but know that some punters tick it to get better results when searching.

I often use "Available Today" as a filter - it's the most reliable way to see who is definitely working although of course it excludes many who are not paying for the green light. But who has the time to go trawling through all those profiles?

To add a punters point of view (albeit on an extended sabbatical at the moment) of girls having a dedicated website.

The very first Indie meeting I booked was with Ruth, I found her website & via that I found AW so in my experience they do work.

I'm more of a parlour punter & was quite cautious (shitting bricks to be honest) of indie punting so having at least three reference points to aid the decision to book made it a no-brainer for me. Incidentally the third point of reference was UKP lurking however I hadn't quite mastered the search facility at that time.

So my advice to any girl is if you have the time & skills (It's not too difficult I believe?) get a dedicated web-site as it may open up a whole new client base as not all punters use or have much faith in the AW system.

I have a website from the days just before AW became so huge, and right now I'd guess that I get 50% of my business through other directories and my own website. Googling has become huge and a lot of men tell me they simply don't want to sign up to, or use AW. Having my number on AW also makes it very difficult to know where business is coming from, many men will say "I found you on the internet" when I ask them.

Maintaining a website once it's got going isn't terribly time consuming, but it does take time to get high up on Google however I don't think keywords have a great deal to do with positioning, I don't have web developer skills and I used to work in sales for an SEO where I learned that there really isn't anything complicated.

Having relevant information, links to other sites, I look for the sites which come up top in a Google search for my area, getting people to it via directories all in my opinion go a long way.

I also know of websites which come up higher than mine which have zero links, and no activity for several years, but I don't worry because mine's there, it's active and people find it if they want to.

I don't give a stuff whether my business comes from AW, Pnet, or my site, so long as it gets to me.

As I've probably mentioned elsewhere I experience a lot of hassle with enquiries from Vivastreet, even though my ad is totally clear about how I operate and what's on offer. For that reason I'm reluctant to go back to them. It's nice having a 'busy' phone but at the end of the day it's appointment conversion I'm interested in, and the less hassle I have in acheiving that, the better all around!

I might have waffled off a bit, but I think my point is that everyone likes the easiest options, and AW is for many that easy option.

A month. But 200 is bare minimum in my case.
Phone number is 1.20£ a day.
So that's around 36£ a month.
Than is featuring which is from 8£ to 20£ ( that's every day I might add).
After that it's "available today" which now Costa 6£ a day.
So it adds up quick.
Thought you were Polish not Italian Michelle. :D
