I'm on my jollies at the moment, having a nice time as far as winter sun goes. But actually so dissapointed to see, English breakfast, fish and chips and Sunday roasts on the menu in the bars and an Irish bar on every street. If wanted an Irish bar I would hav gone to Ireland. Probably won't be back here again. But where is your ideal holiday destination and why? Mine is Greece or France, I love history, culture and no frills.

I've literally just booked 18 days in Hawaii in April as I'm off to race a half marathon, or run one! I've always wanted to go to Hawaii and when I got offered a spot for the run I couldn't say no even though it's expensive as hell! Can't wait to experience the local customs, traditions and foods. I hope I don't come across an Irish bar in Hawaii!! Just need to find company for the holiday now!!!

Up a mountain in the snow or under water somewhere tropical. I have seen most major cities through my work and rarely would think of a city break as a vacation.

Italy, particularly Lake Garda, the Neapolitan Riveria and Rome.

New York

Florida - big theme park fan

Top of my bucket list is Japan.

Italy, a small hill town off the tourist trail but with some cultural centres such as Florence, Siena, Rome and Assisi all a day-trip away. Lots of local culture such as bars, good restaurants and food markets and high culture (Michelangelo et al.) within easy reach.

Holiday Hell - Playa de las Americas, Tenerife. Sky Sport on in every bar and pints of beer with full English breakfasts.

Hell - Italy being half Italian it means when ever I go there, be it skiing or during the summer it means I have to do a tour of the whole of Northern Italy visiting my relatives.
My 2 week ski holiday therefore only consists of about 4 days skiing.

Heaven - any island where I can truly escape from everything. The smaller the better great for recharging my batteries.

Don't really have a favourite place, but I love winter sunshine and prefer to holiday at this time of year or in the new year. Just as well as my bags are packed for my latest jaunt. Hope we don't bump into each other!!

The world is full of places I'd like to visit, but my favourite is Venice, off season and away from the crowds in St Mark's Square (you only have to go 100 yards)

You could always pay your way through those countries by escorting part-time whilst travelling through. the demand for English WGs must be high with all the muti-millionaire oil barons :D

I don't think you would like " all the stans" much if you actually went there, Chloe :(.
A few years since I was there, and all may have changed, of course ;).

I rather doubt that even Chloe could "pay her way" there, Tiger, as when I was there, even very good WG's were as "Cheap as chips" :D:lol::yahoo:

I tried quite a few gorgeous, stunning 'stanis when I was last in dubai, including a few countries that I had never heard of before!! All were reasonably priced, including an overnighter for £300

Hell anywhere that caters for English people. I don't go abroad to drink English beer, eat English food and get bored mindless by drunken English yobs. Heaven would be a year in Vietnam. Its a beautiful country and a holiday just is not long enough so I plan on spending a year travelling when I retire

Vietnam is on my bucket list.
I am in a little Britian at the moment. If I see another bottle of HP sauce or Irish bar I won't be responsible. Just wanted some cheap winter sun, which I'm getting but wish the place was foreign. I don't like complexes either.

Doesn't matter where you go in the world, there's always a bottle of HP sauce lurking. I know what you mean though about visiting foreign parts - if I visit a foreign country I want to see that country. Still, think of it as how Britain could be if it was warmer!

Well most of the stans are really flogging the holiday destination horse and they do look great, like an adventure

I went to Moscow and St P when I was in school, very interesting country. We went to the Bolshoi ballet and saw Swan lake, I was more interested in the sweets we could buy as we were all starving!!! Would love to go back and experience it all again as an adult.

O...k.. This place is not filling me with longing to come back. The weather it has to be said is fantastic. That's what I came for, winter sun, and I am sure before the Brits invaded it was a most gorgeous place to visit.
But Just been to, .... Wait for it......... The Winter Gardens....., for a meal, and should have been a pub quiz, escape made with time to spare. It felt like a community centre on a new housing estate from the seventies.........runs howling for the hills. Left just as the 'committee' arrived. Now which way was that Irish bar? At least in there I had a bop.

Don't knock a bit of winter sunshine. It may be sooooo..... British, but it's warm, the suns shining.......you could be over here enjoying the wind and rain.

Bali is a beautiful island, go up into the mountains to Ubud and make sure you see the Balnese dancing, also have a meal in the Dirty Duck restruant and get a table nearly in the paddy fields. Then white water rafting, and a trip to one of the islands by high power speed boat or yacht, scub diving or snorkeling. Watch the sun set over the old temple, can't remember where exactly but on the west of the island. Stay in the Hard Rock Hotel for nightlife and surf beech, lots of hot aussies for you. Very Happy Memories :D

My favourite place as well, such a vibrant country, amazing street food, you feel as if you are traveling not just on holiday and cheap as chips when there. the only place where getting drunk gets cheaper the nearer to the floor you are. (If you have been you will know)

I don't need a long vacation, no fancy destination, baby you're my great escape
We can stay at home, listen to the radio and dance around the fire place.

Ignore me!!! Had a glass of bubbles!

Hell is anywhere there's sunbeds. Just don't see the point in paying to lay on a bed in the sun, probably because I'm a ginger with very fair, easily burnt, skin. Heaven is a USA roadtrip visiting different places every couple of days. Cologne and Berlin are also good - for obvious reasons.

The hotel I stay in when in Cuba has these huge kingsize day beds all around the pool so that I can lay in warm safeness out of direct sun whilst watching all the others turn their various shades. Love it, park my book, bag of this and that, kids flippy flops on it then bugger off to the beach for half an hour, back to day bed, into pool for ten minutes, back to day bed, go off to get whatever they have slung onthe barby that day, back to day bed, off to beach bar for a bit, back today bed. Each day is pretty much like that other than the days we go a visiting interesting places. Im ginger too, I burn like a bastard, had to factor 50 in france this year and still came home with pink bits as oppose to brown bits
